Garcinia mangostinoa
It is a fruit of India (Garcinia mangostinoa), from a tropical tree native to Indonesia, with 10 to 25 m tall. Its fruit contains a round fleshy capsule with 6-7 m in diameter, its edible part is white, juicy and exotic flavor.
According to traditional Asian medicine, this fruit is used as antibacterial and antipyretic. Their flesh is especially rich in hydroxycitric acid (HCA) which acts as an inhibitor of the formation of fat (lipogenesis), thereby preventing excessive cholesterol. It also stimulates the liver gluco-receptors, promoting an action of satiety may be used in the treatment of obesity.
The fruit of mangostin contains a large number of biologically active substances with activity as:
